Relics are crucial for boosting your units' power. To get mythic relics, you'll need to farm 'Nightmare' difficulty stages in Story Mode. Set the modulation to 75% for a balance of challenge and reward.
Relic Strategy:
- Focus on obtaining relics that provide significant damage boosts (+60% damage) for main attackers
- Hyper armor damage for units like Kenpachi
- Damage over time (DoT) boosts for units with burn abilities like Admiral (Magma)
- Enhance relics to maximum level (Level 15) to unlock their full potential
Now, it's time to refine your units by rerolling for optimal traits. The right trait can transform a good unit into a meta-defining powerhouse.
Priority Traits:
- Ruler (+200% DMG) - Priority for Jinoo & Berserker
- Duelist - REQUIRED for Kriatu (0.8% chance)
- Eternal (+50% DMG) - Great for Infinite mode
- Sacred (+35% DMG) - Solid alternative
- Fortunate - Essential for Fastcart (1% chance)
Trait Reroll Strategy:
- Save trait rerolls for S-tier and Mythic units only
- Don't waste rerolls on units you won't use long-term
- Match traits to game modes - Ruler for Challenges, Eternal for Infinite
- Farm Featured Challenges regularly for sustainable reroll sources
- Some units have trait synergies - research before rerolling
Unlike many other tower defense games, UTD offers unique progression mechanics. When your units level up, they gain 'Stat Points.' These can be allocated to cooldown, range, or damage.
For Damage Dealers:
Spamming cooldown is often beneficial as it directly impacts DPS. This allows units to use their abilities more frequently, increasing overall damage output.
For Buff Units:
Range is usually preferred. Units like Virtual Idol (Miku) benefit from increased range to buff more allies simultaneously.
Etherealization System:
Etherealization allows you to fuse duplicate units to unlock new passives, giving your units unique abilities and further boosting their power. Always etherealize duplicate units instead of selling them! Each star provides unique buffs and unlocks powerful passive abilities.
Infinite Mode Meta (Wave 100+):
- Use scaling units: Jinoo (Monarch) with Ruler/Eternal trait for infinite shadow army scaling
- Miku + Scarlet Maid are essential for buffs and crowd control
- Etherealize units to +6 for maximum power
- Focus on Eternal and Sacred traits for long-term scaling
- Dragon Guy (Silverite) provides freeze control and massive damage buffs
Resource Management:
- Complete one full relic set before starting another
- Prioritize upgrading relics on main carry units first
- Farm Nightmare mode consistently for mythic relics
